O, My Dear

Your humble Austin Music Minute host has been looking forward to sharing a bit of new music from Jack Wilson. Considering he’s been extremely busy as of late, what with opening a fabulous new South Austin coffee house with THE BEST name in the WORLD, and being a proud new papa, it really wasn’t a long wait. But oh, the anticipation! You see, O, My Dear is another extraordinarily beautiful work by the plaintively-voiced songwriter.

Recorded here in Austin and mastered at A Quiet Place in Seattle, Wilson’s old stomping grounds, O, My Dear includes two uptempo tracks, the folk-rocker “Ranger” and the wistful, twilight-hued “Blue Moon” (heard on today’s AMM), both featuring the talents of friends and collaborators Grace Park & The Deer and Jinx McGee.

After getting the coffee house up and running, Wilson is ready to charge forth with a special Red River Residency this month, which includes shows at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, and Stubb’s indoor venue, 800 Red River. It begins tonight at the Mohawk with Carson McHone and The Lonesome Heroes on the bill. Next week’s Wednesday night Mohawk show includes Some Say Leland and The Painted Redstarts. The Stubb’s gigs feature Matt the Electrician on Aug. 20th and Dana Falconberry on Aug. 27th. Nothing beats putting together stellar line-ups with talented friends.

If you haven’t seen Wilson perform live yet, this provides ample opportunity. Don’t miss out. Recommended.
