Oddisee’s The Good Fight is his unabashed paean to doing things his way.
AMM Oct 18 2025
Oddisee’s ‘The Good Fight’ 10th anniversary show tonight at Empire Control Room, with Magna Carda and Shxwnfresh.
Admittedly, things began on slightly shaky ground. Oddisee‘s debut LP People Hear What They See (2012) revealed his uncertainty over his path. A general sense of Where is this going? What the hell am I doing? seemed to permeate the vibe. But it made The Good Fight (2015) feel all the more inspired and artistically uninhibited, as Oddisee embraced a new freedom by unapologetically doing things his way. The album champions being a genuine badass without having to prove anything, a portrait of a musician without the trappings (really, the ridiculous expectations) of hedonism, avarice or materialism limiting his creativity.
Oddisee & Good Company bring the 10-year The Good Fight anniversary tour through Austin for a show tomorrow night at Empire Control Room on E. 7th. Austin artists Magna Carda and Shxwnfresh make this an outstanding bill. Doors at 7 p.m. That’s love.
