As if you weren’t about to get enough out of Austin Psych Fest 2014, with its overwhelmingly impressive list of bands performing throughout this weekend out at Carson Creek Ranch, there’ll be a little something happening tonight to get you warmed up. APF is presenting some killer kick-off shows at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, and Red 7, 611 E. 7th St.
The Mohawk show features performances by Night Beats (featured on today’s Austin Music Minute with the track “Love Ain’t Strange (Everything Else Is)” on their album Sonic Bloom, released on the Reverberation Appreciation Society label, by the way), Al Lover, Indian Jewelry, Psychotic Reaction, Froth, and local bands The Wolf, Hollow Trees and Holy Wave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the music starts at 7 p.m.
The Red 7 show includes The Warlocks, The Young Sinclairs, classic San Francisco psych outfit Flamin’ Groovies, New Planet Trampoline, Sister of Your Sunshine Vapor, No Silver Bird, Slow Motion Rider, and songwriter Victoria Noll. Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and the music starts at 9 p.m.
Something for everybody. Take your pick. You can check the APF website for more details about these shows, and this weekend’s festival schedule.
