All right. Time for your Austin Music Minute maven to give some shout-outs, if I may. The Austin Chronicle‘s Tim Stegall put together a nice write-up about Burger City Rock N Roll Records‘ completely front-to-back badass awesome Good Vibrations Fest, and it wouldn’t have been complete without a word or two from Burger City owner and Hotel Vegas booker Ben Tipton about the bands on the line-up. All are from the Burger City roster, and the fest continues tonight and tomorrow night at Hotel Vegas and The Gypsy Lounge on E. 6th St., then wraps up Sunday night out at The Grand, 4631 Airport Blvd.
Tipton pointed out something that hit the nail right on the head – Good Vibrations is…not really a fest. No. That sounds a bit cringeworthy, really; we’ve got enough festivals in our city to last us a lifetime. Good Vibrations is more of an out-of-control, massive, ear-splitting party on punk and garage-rock overload.
You can find the complete party schedule on Stegall’s write-up, but I did have a few recommendations: Tonight, you can see Ditch Witch and The Bad Lovers (featured on today’s AMM) at Hotel Vegas, and Mellowphant, Annabelle Chairlegs and the Lochness Mobsters at The Gypsy Lounge; tomorrow, Flesh Lights, Total Abuse, Manatees and The Spits are on Hotel Vegas’ bill, while The Dead Space, Hundred Visions and Crooked Bangs are at the Gypsy; Sunday, Beth Israel kicks things off at The Grand, and be sure to say hey to DJ’s Tim Murphy, Andrew McCalla and Tipton.
