Girlfriend’s got it goin’ on.
Elizabeth McQueen released an album in 2010 inappropriately titled The Laziest Girl In Town because, let’s face it, McQueen is one of the most busy, active songwriters around. In addition to solo work with her band the Firebrands, this is a creative mind and beautiful voice who’s performed with the best of the best – Ray Price, Merle Haggard, Lyle Lovett, the redheaded stranger himself, and played with Asleep At the Wheel for a number of years. Oh, and she’s a mom. Lazy? Try…Wonder Woman.
McQueen and longtime musical collaborators from St. Louis, The Brothers Lazaroff, recently reunited to revisit some songs from her 2010 album. The result: A fresh and funky new EP, The Laziest Remix, a re-imagining of these tracks with a little extra soul, jazz, funk and roots grooves. You can hear all the fun they had reshaping and rearranging everything.
To celebrate the new energy they’ve given to these tunes, McQueen and The Brothers are having a special EP release show tonight at Lamberts, 401 W. 2nd St. And sitting in with the band is an all-star cast of shining stars: Erin Ivey, Jazz Mills, Sarah Sharp and Katie Holmes. Following the show is a set by none other than Nakia and his band.
A fabulous night to be had! Doors open at 9 p.m. So very recommended.
