Your humble Austin Music Minute hostess is looking forward to a new album from Austin-based soul outfit KP & The Boom Boom. Front woman Kate Priestly and her crew have been spending long hours in the studio getting it ready, but nothing – not even exhaustion – could have suppressed their absolute giddiness over their recent announcement this week.
Let it be known that Snoop Dogg doesn’t necessarily require an opening band for his shows, but, since he’s terribly awesome, he must appreciate why it would be a coveted position. Just a few days ago, KP & The Boom Boom confirmed that they are that very band for Snoop’s latest Austin appearance at ACL Live. Priestly has been thanking fans left and right for the tremendous outpouring of social media congratulations. It’s exciting and nerve-wracking all at once, but, after all, it isn’t every night you do a show with the Tha Doggfather.
Check it. KP & The Boom Boom start the night out right tonight at ACL Live at The Moody Theater, 310 Willie Nelson Blvd. It’s a superb way to get the crowds ready for Snoop Dogg’s performance. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and KP & The Boom Boom take to the stage at 9 p.m.
This one is so recommended it hurts. Bow wow wow with a boom boom boom.
