Every show with Superfonicós is a celebration.
The Columbian roots run deep with Superfonicós, guiding their music like an ancestral beacon. This cultural connection is behind the solid cumbia, Columbian funk and Afro-beat mixes powering their sound since forming in 2016.
It may have taken a few years to release their debut album, but as with all great things, Renaceré was worth the anticipation. And it was great having exceptional talent behind the studio recordings like Beto Martinez (Grupo Fantasma, Brownout) and Jim Eno (Spoon), at Lechehouse and Public Hi-Fi respectively.
“Many ups and downs happened during this period, for the band and society as a whole,” says vocalist Jaime Ospina about making Renaceré, “but ultimately we came out of the process stronger, like a blade forged in the flames.”
Superfonicós continues their residency at C-Boy’s Heart and Soul on S. Congress with a show tonight at 10 p.m., followed by cumbia/chicha ensemble Hotel de Nova at 11:30 p.m.
