That Parker Swing

There is something mighty, commanding and awesome about the stand-up bass. That ol’ western swing wouldn’t be complete without it. Georgia Parker knows this, and she devoted quite a bit of her time early on in her musical career providing that essential stand-up sound for several artists and bands, from The Bottom Dollar String Band to The Lonesome Heroes, Daisy O’Connor to Doug Strahan. But in 2015, Parker decided it was time to pick up an acoustic guitar and do some songwriting of her own. Since then, she’s fronted bands as a guitarist and has travelled across the country to perform. A huge part of her experience comes from playing with musicians in Colorado, where she also recorded her first self-titled EP.

But Parker is a Texan through and through, and you’ll see her shine at her show tonight at The White Horse, 500 Comal. The night starts out with a set by Chansons et Soulard at 8 p.m., followed by Devin Jake at 10 p.m., then Parker at midnight. Well worth staying up late for. Recommended.
