The Lovely Night

‘Tis a lovely night, indeed! Get thine ears to Hole In the Wall for an evening of inspiring music with three very special guests:

  • It’s punk, folk, and trans and queer art reshaping the trad.-folk legacy. Self-proclaimed trans raconteur Creekbed Carter Hogan is slangin’ queergrass and bendin’ genres with great alacrity. Creekbed Carter’s Tiny Desk Contest performance was a featured Desk of the Day via NPR.
  • Lindsey Verrill and Jeff Johnston (pictured above) are magic. Listen, and you’ll know. Their songs have captured the whispers of the breeze, the crickets chirping…the way the moonlight feels. You’ve been enchanted by Little Mazarn. Start out with 2019’s Io in their library, but make sure you revisit their self-titled release, and the magnificent live and unrehearsed recordings with Ralph White.
  • If you’ve followed the Austin Music Minute for awhile, you may know that Some Say Leland is not only a longtime AMM fave, but the songs are collectively part of a unique experience in the local scene. Dan Grissom makes stunningly beautiful music, reducing entire rooms of people to a mesmerized hush as he weaves this imagery that will break your heart. Brought Low and Wake are must-haves, but the AMM still carries a torch for Fifty Miles Into the Main. While you’re at it, explore the artwork of the multi-talented Grissom at Biscuit Press.

See Grissom, Little Mazarn and Creekbed Carter Hogan tonight, Tuesday Feb. 15, at Hole In the Wall, 2538 Guadalupe. The music starts at 8 p.m.
