This Is Life

Ever since her debut with her 2013 self-titled EP, Carson McHone has been a tremendous presence in the local scene, and probably one of the busiest with several musical collaborations, from Shinyribs to Mike and the Moonpies, to Ray Wylie Hubbard‘s tribute to badass musicians who just happen to be women, “Chick Singer Badass Rockin’.” She is also one of the first musicians selected for Project ATX6, and travelled to different countries to perform solo sets.

Last year marked the release of McHone’s full-length debut, Goodluck Man, and of course, leave it to Hubbard to perfectly capture the emotional depth of McHone’s work with one stark statement: “She writes songs like her life depends on it.” Heartfelt to the core.

McHone has spent a lot of time touring in support of Goodluck Man, but it’s time for a hometown show tonight at Hole In the Wall, 2538 Guadalupe, in an excellent bill that includes Tate Landon Mayeux and Greg Loftus. McHone starts the evening off at 9 p.m. Very recommended.
