Who: Local non-profit Austin Bat Cave is a creative outlet for young writers in the Austin area. They connect with adult volunteers through various workshops to develop their writing skills in an environment that encourages creativity.
What: In support of this unique writing and tutoring center, local musicians are gathering for a special Austin Bat Cave benefit show. This is definitely one not to miss, and all for a wonderful cause, featuring Bill Callahan, indie folk band Hospital Ships, William Graham (of The Painted Redstarts) and Jon Dee Graham (yes, they’re related – and dad and son are gonna rock the house).
When: It’s all happening tonight; doors open at 7 p.m.
Where: Holy Mountain, 617 E. 7th St.
Why: Several prominent local artists are big supporters of Austin Bat Cave, such as Callahan, and several musicians have donated their time to several workshops, including one that involves local bands writing songs based on the works of Austin Bat Cave workshop participants. There are endless opportunities made available through the Cave, and it looks like many more can be made available in the near future through community support. See tonight’s show and help out. Recommended.
