Leila Sunier’s debut LP looks deeper into the humor and the pain of it all.

AMM Aug. 14 2024

Leila Sunier plays Saturday at Mohawk, with alexalone and Tearjerk.

Leila Sunier arrived in Austin from NYC in 2022, not long after her second EP Where Everything Is Perfect (2020) made quite a buzz with outlets like NPR Music and PopMatters. And ideas for Sunier’s debut album were already brewing…

Sunier recorded and produced Too Big For Right Now at her home studio, with Erik Wofford mixing at Cacophony Recorders. Featuring Sunier on all the instrumentation, this gorgeous self-reflective collection of folk-pop elegance explores a personal life vision amidst a dystopic existence, in all its heartache and ironic humor.

Looking ahead, make plans to catch Leila Sunier at her show Saturday, Aug. 17, at Mohawk with Alexalone and Tearjerk on the bill. Doors at 9 p.m.
