It would be a bit oversimplified to blanket Wiretree with a description as limiting as “the thinking person’s pop.” Yet there are several layers to the songwriting that remind you it’s not your ordinary pop experience. Front man Kevin Peroni allows his soul-searching to shine through on the band’s latest release, Towards the Sky, with an exceptional lyrical style propelled by ornate melodies.
Wiretree celebrates the release of Towards the Sky with a release show tonight at Lambert’s, 401 W. 2nd St., sharing the bill with Austin-based pop outfit Good Field. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. An excellent album, and an excellent bill. Very recommended.
