Last year, Sydney, Australia-based artist Juanita Stein made her debut with the alluring and complex America, tackling subject matter that pulled no punches. It’s an absolute stunner, and a far cry from her days in Howling Bells.
This year, her follow up release Until the Lights Fade pushes the boundaries further with cinematic stories creating a self-portrait of the gains, the losses, the wisdom and the scars of Stein’s own personal journey. But whether it’s through her own story, or that of the women before her, her album ultimately reflects the power of survival.
