The word “extravaganza” is apropos for this event. Walker Lukens’ The Last Walt II brings it all to the Paramount.
The marquee said “Walter” instead of “Walker.” Who the hell is Walter? But what began as a joke morphed into a glorious showcase of area artists, ranging from music to drag to comedy to who-knows-what else Lukens has up his sleeve.
Walker Lukens’ The Last Walt returns with a tremendous all-star revue: Adrian Quesada, Carrie Fussell’s BRUCE, KUTX November Artist of the Month Geto Gala, The Suffers’ Kam Franklin, fabulous crooner L.C. Franke, swamp funk/Southern soul outfit Shinyribs, Austin’s empress of soul Tameca Jones, The Bright Light Social Hour, Pedal Steel Noah, the utterly mystifying (no really…what’s going on here?) “failed magician from the 19th Century” Mortimus Broadshow, M. Walker, heavens deliver us The McCuewans, the epic experience that is the Minor Mishap Marching Band, drag queen extraordinaire Brigitte Bandit, actor/writer/comedian Katie Folger, some rando named Jeph taking on emcee duties totally by chance. In addition to all this, various surprise guests will grace the stage alongside Lukens and his multi-talented crew.
