Today’s AMM-featured single “Elysian Plains,” the second track on Daymares‘ self-titled LP, doesn’t have to jolt you into listening. It strides forth with a disquieting, gothic psych rock swagger. Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Nick Coffman has created music under the moniker Daymares since 2013. Now, with bassist Kaya Halil Sümer and percussionist Jason Camacho, Daymares further expands its haunting/haunted soundscape with their latest release, a dark vision of cinematic mystique, a soul unraveling.
Daymares’s album release party is coming up Saturday, July 6 at Mohawk on the indoor stage. Doors at 8 p.m., with a line-up featuring darkwave trio Troller, post-punk/gothic/sophistipop outfit Single Lash, and a set by Denver-based songwriter/artist/producer Devin James Fry (Name Sayers).
