It’s no secret that your humble Austin Music Minute host is quite the fan of bluegrass gone bad, dirty and wild, a HUGE fan of music artists that dare to turn bluegrass on its ear and bring something new to the recipe. Enter tonight’s show at The White Horse, where you’ll get a lot of this and more.
– Starting out the evening is Matt Downing’s Bluegrass Explosion at 8 p.m. Self-taught banjo and guitar picker Downing leads the way with out-of-control rollicking good-time tunes.
– Your friendly neighborhood “browngrass” hoodlums on parade, Sour Bridges, follow with their set at 10 p.m. Can you keep up with all the fast and fiery picking, quirky balladry and hellbent hootenanny action? We shall see. Whiskey might help. Or not.
– Roots rogue reveler Robert Banta takes over the stage at midnight, bringing all manner of alt.-country, rock ‘n’ roll, and hillbilly-flavored pop guaranteed to blow your mind. Far out? Way out, man.
It’s all going down tonight at The White Horse, 500 Comal. Bring your dancing boots. You’re gonna need ’em. Recommended.
