Not much of a winter wonderland here in the Live Music Capital, but The Deer are headed out to slightly colder climes on their upcoming Winter Travels tour, winding through Taos, NM, several cities in Colorado, and Kansas, in support of their album Tempest and Rapture. (Today’s Austin Music Minute featured track, “Strange Resides,” is from that album.)
Before they don some serious winter gear, The Deer have a tour kickoff show tonight at The North Door, 501 Brushy St., featuring experimental math-rockers Hikes, along with folk-pop outfit Dreamboat in what will be their last performance before going on hiatus. Doors open at 8 p.m. Very recommended.
