The Environmental Science Institute at the University of Texas at Austin hosts a monthly event named “Hot Science, Cool Talks,” a nationally recognized Outreach Series designed to connect top researchers with the general public, namely children in grades K-12. Think of it like an interactive community science fair. This month, Dr. Bruce Hood of the University of Bristol discusses the science of supernatural belief; that is, what happens within our brains when we encounter what we believe to be a supernatural experience.
Dr. Hood came by KUTX this morning to talk to Eklektikos host John Aielli about his research, providing a taste of what’s to be expected from his lecture tomorrow night at Welch Hall (corner of 24th/Speedway). The presentation begins at 7 with a hands-on “supernatural” science fair at 5:45. Find more information here.
