KUTX at Home: Phoebe Bridgers 7.2.20

Whether it’s said cogently or in one hundred words, the fact is that Phoebe Bridgers is a tour de force. It’s easy to have followed the thread of her career from her 2017 debut LP Stranger in the Alps to her string of indie supergroups with Boygenius and Better Oblivion Community Center (with Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker, and Conor Oberst respectively) to her beautifully crafted heart-wrenching ballad “Walking On A String,” co-written with The National‘s Matt Berninger, that was part of the soundtrack to the film adaptation of the absurdist cult comedy show Between Two Ferns. The two of us laugh deeply about the unavoidable humor behind the juxtaposition during this At Home session. We touch on those points, talk about the overarching theme of physical disassociation in her new album Punisher (out now on Dead Oceans), and how COVID-19 has reshaped and challenged those mindsets and states of being.
