Early on, people sensed there was something special about Dan Croll. Not long after winning admission to Liverpool’s prestigious school for the Performing Arts, he was tapped as the UK’s Songwriter of the Year (winning a one-on-one with that most famous Liverpudlian, Sir Paul himself). Didn’t hurt a bit. Croll has since graduated to bigger and better things, and is now considered ‘most likely to succeed’ by such arbiters of pop as BBC Music and London’s Guardian. With a musical sensibility that blends elements of folk with the best of the digital realm, Croll is developing a unique sonic signature sure to win him more followers as he invades Austin. Clearly, ‘one to watch’ at this year’s SXSW—according to the music folk at KUTX Austin.
