10AM Friday 3.15.13 – The Relatives
Gospel group The Relatives are sort of a relic of a bygone era. Not in the sense that they play old school music, but in the sense that the band was founded in 1970. Gean and Tommy West first brought the group together in Dallas, and unfortunately they never made much of a splash outside of the city: their gospel-R&B hybrid tunes were too raunchy for church and too tame for rhythm and blues radio. But they found a niche audience and performed around the area for a decade. Recently, The Relatives reformed with all the charm and ability that made them great back in the 70s.
