Public Radio Rocks the SXSW Day Stage

On March 15th KUTX teamed up with four of public radios’ most influential public radio music stations — The Current (Twin Cities), WXPN (Philadelphia), WFUV (New York), and KXT (Dallas) — to present a special showcase and live radio broadcast and webcast from the SXSW Radio Day Stage at the Austin Convention Center. The live concert and broadcast began at noon and featured performances by Charles Bradley, Dawes, Divine Fits, Emmylou Harris with Rodney Crowell, Iron & Wine, Pickwick and Vampire Weekend.

The lineup for the day was:
12:00 live broadcast begins
12:40 Divine Fits SET
1:05 Emmylou SET
1:45 Iron & Wine SET
2:40 Charles Bradley SET
3:35 Pickwick SET
4:35 Dawes SET
5:20 Vampire Weekend

Not only did our SXSW audience get to enjoy the spectacular showcase, but our talented engineers were able to broadcast the performances to five cities across the country, and listeners could stream from anywhere online. One of our online listeners commented, “This was stellar! Once in a lifetime acoustic performance by my all-time favs. Such consummate pros! Thank you so much!!”

If you missed any of the showcase, be sure to tune in to KUT 90.5 FM March 16th at 11 A.M. to catch TMM with the Sounds of South By 2013 special. You’ll hear some of Dave Grohl’s keynote as well as highlights from our Four Seasons and Day Stage live broadcasts. The special will re-air on KUTX at 6pm Saturday night, followed by at least 6 hours of the Best of SXSW 2013 going until O’Dark 30.
