Wednesday, October 11th Julian Lage & Chris Eldridge @ 8:00pm [$12 Advance – $15 Door]
Mount Royal On Mount Royal, their second album together, Julian Lage and Chris Eldridge craft songs that sound familiar but are never easily classified. Percolating with tinges of bluegrass and folk, insinuations of jazz and pop, hints of classical and avant garde composition, the album rarely settles into any one particular category; rather, it dances around the territory between genres, never announcing its innovations and prizing soulfulness above chops at every turn. From first note to last, the duo push themselves to findnew ways to play their flat-top steel-string acoustic Martins together.
Thursday, October 12th Sam Evian w/ Buck Meek @ 8:00pm [$8 Advance – $10 Door]
Sam Evian: (born Sam Griffin Owens) is a New York-based songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
Premium, Sam’s debut on Saddle Creek records, won audience and critical notice for songs that included the first single and video “Sleep Easy” (https://youtu.be/tqjVCNMTd_k). Premium’s release saw Sam Evian (Brian Betancourt on bass, Austin Vaughn on drums, and Adam Brisbin on guitar – often joined by Hannah Cohen for additional vocals) touring throughout the year with Whitney, Big Thief, Teenage Fanclub, Lucius, Rubblebucket and Luna, as well as headlining around the east coast.
Special Guest: Buck Meek (Big Thief)
Buck Meek’s songs are for the lost dogs of honest mechanics, good guys born into a life of crime, runaways, snow spirits, the ghosts of Central Park, line cooks, unsung diving board stars, the affection shared through gambling, ancient love, etc. Bred in Texas, more bread in New York City, he spins outlaw ballads and grunge into a yarn, with Adam Brisbin on guitar (Jolie Holland, Sam Evian), Mat Davidson on bass (Twain, The Low Anthem, Spirit Family Reunion), and Austin Vaughn on drums (Here We Go Magic, Luke Temple, Sam Evian).
