Posted by on Jan 15, 2013

This is the Texas Top 5, the week’s top selling albums by Texas artists, according to our friends at Waterloo Records.

5. Adam Johnson & The Pay Me’s, Self-Titled

At number five, it’s 20-year-old Adam Johnson and his debut album with his band The Pay Me’s.

 4. The Sword, Apocryphon

Heavy metal all-stars, The Sword have been creating metal fans out of unsuspecting Austinites since 2003. This week they’re in the number four spot with their record, Apocryphon.

 3. ZZ Top, La Futura

And – they’re back! ZZ Top’s new album, produced by Rick Rubin, is a resurrection of the band’s gritty blues infused style.  It’s called La Futura.

 2. The Flatlanders, The Odessa Tapes

At number two, it’s something old…and new from Lubbock trio The Flatlanders. Although it’s a new release, The Odessa Tapes were recorded back in 1972. The historic tapes were found in a closet after 40 years.

 1. Gary Clark Jr., Blak and Blu

And in the number one spot this week, it’s Austin blues prodigy Gary Clark Jr. He’s been busy, traveling the world to promote his new record, Blak and Blu.
