When a band describes their genre as “psychedelic Texas forest rock”, you know you’re in for an adventure. In this case, your guides are Royal Forest: producers of music, field recordings, photography and short film. These multi-skilled Austinites are sound hunter-gatherers, often implementing analog tape loops and various field recordings in both their studio and live performances. Oh and by the way, have you ever heard a song recorded in an airplane flying above Texas? How about in a submarine in Galveston?
Such inventive, exploratory approaches to music are the norm for Royal Forest and we were thrilled to have them perform in Studio 1A on Wednesday, July 3. You can also stay tuned for their upcoming release, Spillway, due out July 9th!
