Kevin Morby was born in Lubbock, but like a lot of folk musicians, he’s lived all over: Kansas, New York, and now Los Angeles. His music also feels somehow out-of-place. On his third album, Singing Saw, he reaches back to that rich well of ’70s folk rock for influence, sounding like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen thrown together. The songs Morby picked for his guest DJ set definitely reflect this sound, but since he travels a lot, he also played a bunch of music that’s perfect for a road trip. Tune into My KUTX on Saturday, July 9 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime at the bottom of the page.
