In partnership with SXSW, Vision:8291 focuses on centering and elevating the work of visionary BIPOC artists and leaders with the intention of annually raising funds to directly support the work of Austin-based BIPOC-led grassroots organizations.
Vision:8291 (1928 in reverse) supports BIPOC-led grassroots organizations that confront the economic, social, and cultural repercussions of the city’s 1928 master plan which broke Black and Brown communities up, forcing them to relocate to East Austin, an area which is now being steadily wiped away by gentrification.
