Every year during SXSW, Willie Nelson and family invite music fans to their compound outside of Spicewood, TX for Luck Reunion, a day of live music, BBQ, and maybe a little of Willie’s left-handed tobacco. Our crew was on hand to capture stripped down performances with some of this year’s performers, and we’re excited to share them with you. Sweeping harmonies full of longing and power filled the air around Allison Russell’s performance at Luck Reunion. Her song “Hy-Brasil” sounds like it’s been sung a thousand years and will survive a thousand more. Featuring a cello and clarinet, Russell’s set blew us all away. “Hy-Brasil” is on her debut album Outside Child.
