In the five years since Wood and Wire emerged from the primordial Austin folk/country/bluegrass ooze, they’ve cemented themselves as an integral part of the acoustic music scene here in the lone star state and beyond. Looking at them you might expect a traditional straight-laced bluegrass quartet, but they bring so much more to the table. This is a result of their “band-style” ethos; Instead of coming together and playing bluegrass standards, they write their own tunes and work together to arrange them and put their own personal stamp on them, a process that allows for much more creativity and expression. Wood and Wire stopped by Studio 1A to give us a taste of what they’ll show us this weekend at the Old Settlers Music Festival.
