Country singer-songwriter, Bonnie Bishop hits all the high notes with her latest work, bringing her music to a new level with a strong, resilient sound while still remaining exposed to the world. Bishop teamed up with famed producer Dave Cobb, (who has previously worked with Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson) for her latest album, Ain’t Who I Was. Drawing on the soul and blues influences she grew up with in Mississippi as well as the heartache storytelling she has been known for, it’s easy to draw comparisons of Bishop to Dusty Springfield as well as her idol Bonnie Raitt.
