Continental Drift 11.2.17

Continental Drift are making music guaranteed to get you on your feet. The Austin-based nine piece formed back in 2014 after the core members kept running into each other at Hard Proof residency shows. Inspired by their mutual love for Afro-centric grooves they decided to add their own flavor to Austin’s rich music stew. It took them six months to pin down a permanent line-up and since then they’ve honed their unique sound; 70’s Afrobeat with with added dashes of Latin and American funk, soul and psychedelia. This week sees the release of their vinyl LP The Tide; Grammy-award winning producer Adrain Quesada and Alex Mass of The Black Angels both lend their talents to a few tracks on the record. The album promises to be a groovy, dance-inducing collection. The whole crew piled into Studio 1A ahead of their release show at Cheer Up Charlies
