Kevin Morby 9.16.17

California singer-songwriter Kevin Morby specialises in finding simple beauty in urban chaos. The LA- based artist is originally from Kansas city, but spent a decade-and-change in Brooklyn playing music with Woods and the Babies. In 2013 Morby swapped east coast for west and released his debut solo EP Harlem River; a tribute to the home he’d just left behind. The album represented a stylistic shift to a more roots-indie sound, and set the tone for his spacious yet intimate aesthetic. In his latest release, City Music, Kevin Morby becomes a modern day Lou Reed with a series of vignettes inspired by urban existence. His fourth album is sad and sexy, elegant and melodic. The tracks flow so seamlessly that you won’t even realise you’ve given Morby forty-five minutes until the final song plays. We were lucky enough to have Morby visit us in Studio 1A ahead of his release show at Mohawk. Miss the session? We’ve got you covered right here. Check it out below!
