King Corduroy at KUTX 7.23.13

King Corduroy hails from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and their southern roots are more than evident in their unique blend of blues, funk, and roots music that they call “southern soul”. They have been based in Austin since 2007, and the band is made up of vocalist Kurt McMahan, Tom Risher Jr., David Jimenez, Joe Beckhmam, and Trevor Nealon. They write many of their own tunes, and much of the writing is shaped by legends like Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, and Guy Clarke. The band has been making quite a splash here in Austin and stood out during this past SXSW, riding a mule to one of their shows at Aussie’s Beach Bar and Grill.

You can catch this inimitable soul band on July 26th at Antone’s opening for Uncle Lucius, and they’ll also be stopping by our Studio 1A for a performance on Tuesday, July 23rd. Be sure to tune in!
