Lilly Hiatt 9.27.17

Lilly Hiatt is laying down her musical autobiography; unabridged, uncensored and unbelievably good. As the daughter of legendary singer-songwriter John Hiatt, Lilly has some huge musical shoes to fill; but she’s proven across three studio releases to be holding her own. Born in LA but raised in Nashville, Lilly makes sharply witty, brutally honestly roots-rock; it’s 90’s throwback grunge with a bit of that southern sensibility. Her latest release, Trinity Lane, was written mostly in isolation in her apartment off Trinity Lane in an insular, idiosyncratic suburb of Nashville. True to her wildly expressive style, the album is a sort of sonic stock-take; a frank look at where she’s been, where she’s going and the challenges she’s faced along the way. In the past decade she’s struggled with alcoholism, heartbreak and the fact that she has surpassed the age of her mother when she took her own life. Trinity Lane is gritty and gutsy, with a rock focused core and a lot of unbridled attitude. We were lucky enough to have Lilly in Studio 1A, check out her full session below!
