The name Lomelda might not mean much to you, but to singer/songwriter Hannah Read it is more than just the name of her band. It’s an expression of deeply felt emotion and strong personal connections formed through collaboration. In fact, collaboration has become such a central part of Hannah and Lomelda’s growth it makes it hard to nail down her ever changing sound. The latest iteration finds Hannah’s distinctively plaintive voice backed by sparse, delicate percussion arrangements provided by Andrew Stevens. Together, they create a new kind of electric folk reminiscent of North Texans Midlake and Sarah Jaffe. Not bad company if we say so. Relax awhile with Lomelda’s recent visit to Studio 1A at the bottom of this post!
