Pete Rodriguez at KUTX 11.3.13

Puerto Rican trumpeter Pete Rodriguez grew up with some serious musical roots, thanks to the influence of his father, salsa pioneer Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez. Rodriguez gained recognition with the release of his debut album Mind Trip in 2006, which garnered rave reviews. His unique music blends his style of Latin music with a modern jazz sound, and he has had stints with renowned jazz players including Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Celia Cruz, and Johnny Pacheco. He recently released his newest album, Caminando con Papi, is a tribute to his father.

You can catch Rodriguez perform at Austin’s Brass House, a jazz and blues lounge where Rodriguez plays with his trio every Saturday. He also plays a jam session at Brass House on Wednesday morning. Rodriguez recently swung by our studio for a great performance, and you can check it out right here!
