Residual Kid has been through the usual ups and downs of band life that most musicians experience, including rejection, departure of a band member, and the stress of touring. On top of all of that, these guys also have to deal with the pressures of middle school. That’s right – the three members of Residual Kid may be young, but they are guaranteed to rock your face off with their unique brand of 90s-era alternative rock. Max Redman (13), Ben Redman (14), and Deven Ivy (15) formed Residual Kid in Austin in 2009, and they have since been featured on TV shows, played gigs with bigger Austin bands, and garnered a variety of media attention. Their most recent EP, Faces, features their signature grunge/punk/rock tunes (think Nirvana and My Bloody Valentine). They played SXSW and the Underground Music Showcase in Denver this past summer, where they warned the audience to “bring safety goggles”.
These young rockers were in our studio for a wild and crazy show today – check it out right here! You can also catch them at Utopia Fest this weekend, and at our Umami Mia showcase on September 22nd. Don’t forget your safety gear.
