Rob Baird is a no-frills singer-songwriter extraordinaire who left behind a record deal and an entire state in the making of his latest album. The Wrong Side of the River was started in Nashville studios but finished in Austin garages, after Baird realised his heart still belongs to Texas. The album is a gritty, country-music documentation of being in the wrong place and fighting tooth-and-nail to get to the right one. It is his boldest and most stunning work to date. The entire album maintains a cinematic, melodic flow; peppered with tales of hardship and open ended journeys.Baird dropped past Studio 1A to showcase some of his favorite tracks, missed the session? Don’t worry we’ve got you covered right here! Baird is one of the many musicians performing as part of HAAM Benefit Day; a city-wide fundraiser for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians.
