Secret Sisters 9.8.17

Like the legend of the phoenix Country-folk duo Secret Sisters are rising from the ashes. The Alabama-born sisters Lydia and Laura Rogers started playing together in the late 2000s. After releasing their first record in 2010, the duo toured with the likes of Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Paul Simon. Their second record, however, saw the two dropped from their label, on the brink of bankruptcy and ready to hang up their hats. With the assistance of producer Brandi Carlile the two managed to push against the tide and come out with their most bitingly beautiful and sonically mature record to date. You Don’t Own Me Anymore tells tales of hardship, redemption and reward in the way that only country music can. The tracks are strung through with ethereal vocals and gently strumming guitars; it is music that has walked through hell and made it to the other side. We were lucky enough to host the sisters in Studio 1A. Check out the full session below!
