Soccer Mommy in Studio 1A

William Whitworth

Soccer Mommy performs songs from her new album, Evergreen.

Soccer Mommy is the project of Nashville singer-songwriter Sophie Allison, whose confessional indie rock is, at times, lyrically reminiscent of ’90s-era Liz Phair and Fiona Apple. Released last fall, Evergreen finds Allison turning inward as she examines her mental health and grapples with the pain of losing a loved one—all while softening the edges with bright guitar chords and soothing vocals that add to the music’s emotional heft while simultaneously encouraging the listener to keep their head up and take one step at a time.

Soccer Mommy brought the new music to KUTX for an intimate performance with our studio audience before a show at Radio East—one of many stops on a long run that will take the band across Europe before the end of May.
