The Boxing Lesson may only consist of three members – vocalist and guitarist Paul Waclawsky, synthesizer player Jaylinn Davidson, and drummer Ben Redman – but they play it thick. With plenty of heavy synth filling in the low end (where most bands might need a bassist) combined with fuzzy, spaced-out guitar and the continually impressive drumming chops from 14-year-old Redman, Waclawsky’s vocals have a perfect psych-rock base to weave in and out of. The resulting wall of sound – as it can be heard on The Boxing Lesson’s latest LP, Big Hits! – proves that this Austin-based trio comes packing many punches.
