Aussies-turned-Austinites The Greencards stopped by KUTX’s Studio 1A Friday Sept. 27. They found a home for their brand of Americana here in the Lone Star State. The band–today, mandolinist Kim Warner, bassist Carl Miner, and violinist Kristin Weber–started in 2003 after moving to Austin, and fairly quickly made a name for itself on the strength of their debut disc (aptly-titled) Movin’ On. The record got them a deal with Nashville’s Dualtone Records, and The Greencards moved to Tennessee’s Music City for a spell before moving back to Austin. Since then, the band’s earned more than a few honors, including two Grammy nominations and a number-one spot on Billboard’s Bluegrass Charts for their 2007 record Veridian. In August, they released their latest record Sweetheart of the Sun, and they were kind enough to share with us a few tunes. Check ’em out below!
