Instead of recording a full album, Austin’s Matt The Electrician embarked on a different musical path back in 2015. He opted to release his songs the old, old-fashioned way: 7-inch singles, with a proper A and B side. Each song also features a different collaborator, including Dana Falconberry, Wood & Wire, and Little Brave.
With the release of his last 7-inch next week, Matt The Electrician is packaging them all together as The Doubles, including each song from the series plus new versions recorded with Matt’s current band. On “Live To Fight,” the Deer back up Matt with a well-matched folk-pop sound. “And I will live to fight another day,” Matt triumphantly sings, and with over two decades of songwriting under his belt, the sentiment rings true.
“Live To Fight” appears on “Clearwater” b/w “Live To Fight” 7-inch and The Doubles, both out June 9. Matt The Electrician plays live in our Studio 1A on June 8 at 1 p.m. before an album release show at 3Ten At ACL Live on June 10.
