For years, Alejandro Rose-Garcia played every dive bar across the country with just his guitar and a modified suitcase as his percussive accompaniment. But last year, he turned Shakey Graves into a full-fledged band. And The War Came matches Shakey’s former folk roots with rock ‘n’ roll energy and honky-tonk charm. Shakey Graves has long been an Austin favorite, but now the whole country has fallen in love with the inventive sound.
The band played KUTX Live at the Four Seasons last Friday as part of ACL Fest 2015, and of course, they brought the house down. The sweet-natured “Dearly Departed” got an electrified makeover, leading to the biggest sing-along outside of Zilker Park last weekend. Download the song below and see video here.
