Sunwolf: “Dreamers”

Hardcore punk’s legacy looms large over a lot of D.C.-based bands. Bad Brains, Minor Threat, and Fugazi helped put the capital on the map, musically-speaking, and Sunwolf aren’t strangers to that history. This D.C. trio even features Jerry Busher–a longtime fixture in the hardcore scene, especially with Fugazi–as its drummer and producer.

But Sunwolf run counter to a lot of that sound. Their music is punk-inspired, but it’s more in line with the melodic sides of tour mates Ty Segall and Ted Leo & The Pharmacists. The band’s debut, Follow The Dreamers, is scrappy and fun, punctuated by the neo-psychedelic sing-along of “Dreamers.” Download the song below.
