All this week, the Song of the Day features artists playing this weekend at Levitation.
Of all bands weirding out Carson Creek Ranch this weekend, Austin’s Tele Novella might be the most subtle. This year’s Levitation bill is heavy on all things heavy. Distortion and fuzz are in; the good vibes seem to be out. That suits Tele Novella well–they’ll stick out in a crowded, zoned-out field.
Featuring former members of Voxtrot, Belaire, and Agent Ribbons, the group’s primary muse is the infectious pop song. They dress up the melodies in ’60s clothes, but take a dive through their small discography and you’ll hear the timeless craftsmanship that goes into Tele Novella’s songs. “Hair Of The Dog” is perfect for the costumed throngs out at Levitation–or better yet, the morning after.
