Vieux Farka Touré & Julia Easterlin: “Little Things”

All this week, the Song of the Day features artists playing at Wobeon Fest, the Austin world music festival taking over Ironwood Hall on Saturday.

Vieux Farka Touré continues where his guitar legend father Ali Farka Touré left off. The pair are responsible for helping bridge the gap between traditional Malian music and American blues, and the younger is often called “the Hendrix of the Sahara.” Vieux’s upcoming album Touristes is a collaboration with American singer Julia Easterlin, whom he met in a New York studio. The album–featuring both originals and covers of songs by Bob Dylan and Fever Ray–kicks off with the atmospheric “Little Things,” the very first song the pair recorded together. Download the song below, and catch Vieux Farka Touré and Julia Easterlin live in Studio 1A on Friday at 3 pm.

Vieux Farka Touré and Julia Easterlin play Stage One at Wobeon Fest starting at 10:30 p.m.
