There’s a lot going on in Zettajoule’s music. The Austin band obviously loves the complicated structures of prog-rock, but it’s filtered through a pop sensibility. Hypothetically, you could see both Yes and B-52’s t-shirts at one of their shows.
Zettajoule only has a handful of recorded songs, but they’re already an interesting live outfit. A few weeks ago in our Studio 1A, the band showed off “How A Tree Grows,” built around a shuffling beat and some incredible multi-part harmonies. It’s complex but also really catchy. Download the song below and catch Zettajoule tonight at Cheer Up Charlie’s (doors at 9 p.m.) and Friday, December 4 at the Blackheart (doors at 8 p.m.).
