Charlie Mars @ KUTX 10.16.14

Charlie Mars wants to be a bigger part of the Austin music scene. In fact, he wants to live here.  His soul-rock songwriting talents make it easy to understand why Charlie Mars is attracted to the Live Music Capital.

Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet, and the Violent Femmes’ Violent Femmes contributed significantly into Mars’ musical development.Mars’ sound has been compared to that of Jason Mraz, Josh Rouse, and Jeff Buckley. In the early 90s he started playing for Jack Ingram as “The Charlie Mars Band” and has since released seven solo albums between 1997 and 2012.

Mars is now gearing up to release his newest album The Money, which he will be promoting at Threadgill’s World Headquarters on both Friday, October 17th and Saturday, October 18th. Until then, feel free to stream some of their songs right here at KUTX!
